One of the most frequently asked questions that our team responded to was about the KwikDraw pump and gas detector tubes. We welcomed the opportunity to tell them all about the KwikDraw advantage!
The KwikDraw pump by Uniphos allows detection of gases and vapors with the squeeze of a handle.
We had the pump on hand to demonstrate just how easy it is and to illustrate why it’s a better, and less expensive option, than what our competitors offer.
One of the key features that was of interest was the end-of-stroke indicator. Some of the challenges we heard from visitors to the booth was that when they are working in dimly lit environments, it’s hard to tell when, and if, the color has changed. Our high visibility indicator transitions from canary yellow to black so there is no question that the stroke has been completed. The indicator is also significantly larger (up to three times) the size of what our competitors offer, hence ensuring it’s highly visible.
Another advantage is the precise compression of the bellows, which ensures a consistent 100 ml sample volume and no partial strokes. The design of the pump makes it infinitely easier to get a precise pump stroke, and in fact, virtually impossible to get an incomplete stroke.
Adding to the list of features is the integral easy-to-read stroke counter, which ensures consistent volume test after test. It counts the exact number of strokes and provides a positive stop when the bellows is fully compressed.
A few of the other benefits include:
- Handle grip is firm, yet comfortable even when wearing gloves.
- Generous length wrist strap fits over bulky, protective clothing while tethering pump to the wrist.
- Durable construction for years of use, backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty!

Why is a hand pump a better option?
Another question that we frequently heard at the AIHce show in Seattle was about why a user would want a traditional hand pump such as the KwikDraw by Uniphos pump, versus options like electronic monitors for gas detection.
An electronic monitor is often the best option for confined space entry and constant real time monitoring of a workers exposure. The typical multi gas monitor is equipped with a senor for oxygen, combustibles and one or more sensors for toxic gases. The limitation for these devices are the types of toxic gas sensors and the ranges. There are detector tubes available for many more gases and vapors than there are sensors and the ranges of measurement far exceed the options offer by sensors. But, detector tubes used with the hand pumps are point-in-time detectors, not constant monitoring devices. The need exists for both electronic monitors and detector tubes.
What is the KwikDraw Hand Pump Kit Exchange Program?
Uniphos offers a unique exchange program where our customers can receive a brand new KwikDraw Bellows hand pump when they trade in their existing Bellows pump through their local distributors with a purchase of 10 boxes of KwikDraw tubes at the list price. No matter what condition the pump is in, we’ll replace it, as long as it is a Bellow pump designed for use with gas detector tubes. We will also send a full pump kit with carrying case and an instruction manual.
Uniphos offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty on the KwikDraw pump – another outstanding advantage!
